Pioneers, Victoria Falls has been designed and decorated in keeping with the name of the lodge, and is known for its large, restful open spaces. The entrance to the lodge is cool and welcoming, with a unique visitors’ bathroom that always creates a lot of comments. The lodge is situated in the suburbs of Victoria Falls city, just over 3.5 kilometres walk from the mighty falls themselves.Pioneers has lovely green lawns, gardens that are beautifully kept, and not one but TWO swimming pools available for guests to use.
The main building houses a wonderful wraparound terrace with a soft-seating area, bar, coffee station and alfresco dining section. For those not wanting to sit outside, there is also an elegant inside lounge and a beautifully decorated dining room. In addition to these a day spa, TV/meeting room and curio shop (conveniently located in the reception area) are also on the property. All of the facilities are for residents of the hotel only.
There are 50 rooms in total, each looking out over the gardens, located on 2 different levels. All the rooms are en-suite with double vanities and a shower. The beds can be configured on request to either double or twin. Four of the rooms are specially designed family rooms. These have an annexe off the main room with two single beds in it, and these are decorated with kids in mind. Cots are also available on request. Pioneers is very dedicated to conservation and preservation of the environment and are also committed to being Environmentally Friendly. Carefully placed solar panels are used to harness the power of the sun and covert it to clean energy.
Although not totally off the grid yet, most of the lodge runs off solar energy, backed up by generator and mains power as a contingency. They are also trying to limit single use plastic so have installed a water filtration system, and all drinking water in the rooms is served in thermos flasks. Pioneers also supports local wildlife charities in aid of conservation, anti-poaching, essential research and anti-litter projects, all of which operate in the Victoria Falls region.
